People of God, we must get to a place where we are comfortable with sharing the generosity of God, with others. Why be selfish, since God has given to you? Why not give to others? We must realize that God has been too good to us for us to keep it to ourselves! Share and share, some more! Don’t you know that by giving, you won’t run out?
If you empower someone else, not just with words, but with actions, with movement behind the words, God will keep enlarging (increasing) your territory! The Bible explains this in several passages of Scriptures.
Put some action behind your words. Since you say God is Our Provider, give as He has so graciously given to you! (verse 7)
It’s time to be a GIVER! Don’t be concerned about always GETTING. Sow (give) to others. Give so that you can have an abundance.
If all you’re doing is stockpiling, for yourself, you will miss out on what God has to give to you. Your hands will be too full. God told us to give and He will reward us. What are you holding onto that should be given to someone else?
Ministry requires giving.
Question: Erica, you know that times are getting scarce, how can I be a giver when I feel I barely have enough for myself?
Answer: The Lord says, give, from your “few” and “He will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you” – verse 10. This will give “thanks to God” – verse 12.
PRINCIPLE: Giving God Thanks is to Give to Others
Today’s Scripture:
2 Corinthians 9:6-14 NLT | New Living Translation
6Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. 7You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”c 8And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. 9As the Scriptures say,
“They share freely and give generously to the poor.
Their good deeds will be remembered forever.”d
10For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generositye in you.
11Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God. 12So two good things will result from this ministry of giving—the needs of the believers in Jerusalemf will be met, and they will joyfully express their thanks to God.
